To sell your own brand on Amazon India you need a GST number for most categories, a business bank account and a Seller Central account, and ideally a trademark for Brand Registry. After that, sales depend on clear listings, good images, prices that still leave profit after fees, and stock and returns you can handle.
1. Keep the documents ready
GST registration, PAN, a current account in the business name, a cancelled cheque and ID for the person registering. Some categories, such as cosmetics, food and electronics, need extra licences or approval before you can list.
2. Apply for Brand Registry
If you sell under your own name, file a trademark application and enrol in Amazon Brand Registry. It protects your listings from other sellers, unlocks A+ content and brand ads, and gives you better reports.
3. Build listings that sell
Write titles the way buyers search: brand, product, key feature, size or colour. Use at least six clear images, including a plain white background shot and real-life use. Fill every attribute; Amazon uses them to decide when to show your product.
4. Price after every fee
Amazon charges a referral fee by category, a closing fee and shipping fees, plus GST on those fees. Work out your real margin before setting the price and keep room for returns and ads. Our free marketplace profit calculator on streamon.in gives a quick estimate.
5. Choose Easy Ship or FBA
Easy Ship lets Amazon collect from you; FBA keeps your stock in Amazon's warehouse and often improves delivery speed and visibility, but adds storage fees. Many new sellers start with Easy Ship and move best sellers to FBA later.
6. Plan the first 90 days
Sales are slow at first. Use Amazon's own Request a Review button, run small sponsored product ads on your best listings, check account health every week and answer buyer messages within a day.
