Marketplaces deduct a commission (also called referral fee) that depends on the category, a fixed or closing fee per order that depends on the price slab, sometimes a collection fee, and 18% GST on these fees. Delivery looks free to the buyer, but the seller usually pays a shipping or weight-handling charge. Returns cost you shipping both ways and sometimes damaged stock. What is left after your product cost, packaging, ads and GST on the product is your real profit.
The rates here are approximate public figures checked on 2026-10-21. Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra and Meesho change fees often and run zero-commission offers on some price bands or programmes, so always confirm in your own seller dashboard.
